A Night of Wine and Roses benefiting Project MANA (Making Adequate Nutrition Accessible) will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. at Moody’s Bistro and Lounge in Truckee. July 8-13

Watch more than 80 of your favorite athletes and movie and television stars as they vie for top honors in the Tahoe Celebrity Golf Tournament held at the Edgewood Golf Course in South Lake Tahoe. Past tournaments have included such celebs as Michael Jordan, Donald Trump, Lance Armstrong, Charles Barkley, and John Elway. The event benefits the Lance Armstrong Foundation, which provides information and tools for people living with cancer. The charity also raises money for cancer research. Details: 588-3566.

July 13

The GM/UAW Golf for Wishes benefiting the Make-A-Wish® Foundation will be held at D’Andrea Golf Club. This year’s shotgun-style tournament kicks off at 8 a.m. The day includes green, cart, and range fees; barbecue lunch; and gifts. Awards and auction will be held during lunch. Aug. 16-17

The Brews, Jazz and Funk Fest will take place at the Village at Squaw Valley. Sample beer and listen to music on both days. All proceeds from the event benefit the Truckee-Tahoe Humane Society. Details: thevillageatsquaw.com.

Aug. 31

The Alpen Wine Festival at The Village at Squaw Valley will include wine tasting, live jazz, a silent auction, and a raffle to benefit The Heuga Center. Participants pay $40 for wine-tasting, which includes a Spiegalau crystal souvenir wine glass. The event will include more than 40 vineyards, a silent auction and raffle, and free live music. The Heuga Center is a foundation providing wellness and education for people with Multiple Sclerosis. Details: thevillageatsquaw.com.

Sept. 13-14

The Art Bark Fest, an animal art and wine festival at The Village at Squaw Valley, includes more than 20 animal-themed booths, a benefit wine tasting, and free live music from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The festival also includes a dog lake-jumping contest, Busy Bee Dog Show, and a Squaw Valley rescue dog demonstration. This event benefits the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe and Squaw Rescue Dogs. A $25 donation includes a commemorative wine glass for wine tasting participants. Sept. 20

The Tahoe Sierra Century Bike Ride (with 30-, 60-, and 100-mile options) starts and finishes in The Village at Squaw Valley. All money raised benefits local high school and middle school band programs. Riders can enjoy live, local music while enjoying pasta and cold beer from Fireside Pizza Company. Sept. 27

The seventh annual Village Oktoberfest at The Village at Squaw Valley features traditional Bavarian music and folk dancers, a beer garden that benefits The Tahoe Truckee LaCrosse Foundation, brats, kraut, and games from 2 to 6 p.m. All entertainment at the event is free. Oct. 5

Susan G. Komen for the Cure Northern Nevada will take its Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure to the University of Nevada, Reno campus. More than 4,000 participants are expected to help raise funds for local breast cancer education, screening, and treatment programs. The Northern Nevada race celebrates its 10th anniversary this year with special recognitions for those who have helped raise more than $1.7 million during the last decade. The race includes a sanctioned 5K walk-run and one-mile walk as well as free entertainment, breast cancer information, and product samples from local and national companies. Oct. 12

More than 3,000 walkers from more than 150 corporate and family teams are expected for the 10K course at the 2008 Walk to Cure Diabetes. There will be entertainment and refreshments along the route in the University of Nevada, Reno’s quad. All money raised goes to research to find a cure for diabetes and its complications. Oct. 12

A golf tournament to benefit the University of Nevada, Reno’s Wolf Pack athletic department will take place at Edgewood Golf Course in South Lake Tahoe. Details: 682-6965.

Nov. 16

The Sierra Nevada Friends Committee of Guide Dogs for the Blind holds its fifth annual The Dogs with Hearts of Gold Gala at Eldorado Hotel Casino Convention Center. The event provides sensory perception participants experience while blindfolded, a sit-down brunch, wine, an auction, plenty of puppies, and a keynote address by Guide Dogs alumni and board member Morgan Watkins with his guide dog, Will. All proceeds support program and veterinary expenses for Guide Dog users and volunteer puppy raisers in the Reno and Lake Tahoe area. Details: events@guidedogs.com.
